Who We Are
The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. -Ps. 118:14
I was blessed to be born into a Christian home, the daughter of a Pastor (Pastor Douglas Wood of Harvesters Baptist Church) and the grandaughter of a Pastor (the late Pastor Baughman). I accepted Christ as my Saviour and became saved at the age of three, so for most of my life I have loved and served the Lord!
I was homeschooled until grade eight, and then attended church school until I graduated. It was during my teenage years that I surrendered my life to the Lords work, and at the same time I began writing songs as part of my school projects.
I was married at the age of 19 to Lyle Featherstone, and in 2007 my husband went on staff at Harvesters Baptist Church as the assistant Pastor. During these years, I continued to write music based on sermons I had heard, personal devotions and the Lords leading in my personal life. I was first asked in 2006 to provide special music at another church, and after a few years, people began asking me to record my music. After years of prayer in asking for the Lords leading on this, we began working with Faith Music Missions in 2013, and the first album was released that same year in December.
Since then, we have travelled further with our music ministry, and the Lord provided us with our second and third recordings in 2015. We were also blessed to work with Bible Truth Music this past summer, and now have our first two albums available in sheet music.
We have been blessed to visit so many churches through our music ministry, and have travelled all over, from our home church in Ontario, Canada to the western/northern provinces, and down south as far as the state of Florida - and we do this with our three children! As a family, we are strenghtened and encouraged continuously by the brothers and sisters in Christ that we meet, knowing that they pray for us and that we can also pray for them in their needs. This is a great blessing to us.
I was saved at the age of 8 years old and baptized at the age of 9 at Harvesters Baptist Church. As I grew in the Lord, I realized that He was calling me to preach, and so at the age of 15 I made a committment to follow the Lords leading. After graduating high school, I immediately began Bible College at Harvesters Baptist Church, under the teaching of Pastor Wood.
I grew up in a home that encouraged a love of music, and we had often played music as a family at church. I began guitar lessons at the age of 12 and later picked up the banjo and mandolin. Emily and I were married in 2003 and over the years we have been blessed with two sons and a daughter. I went on staff at Harvesters Baptist Church in 2007 as the Assistant Pastor, and together Emily and I started Emily Featherstone Music in 2013, serving churches together in music and preaching.
